It’s unclear the extent to which the spread of the Coronavirus, or COVID-19, will impact the salon professional industry, but the cancelation of a number of tradeshows and events has hairstylists, barbers, nail artists and brands on high alert. While the available information may be overwhelming, there are small steps you can take to prevent the spread of COVID-19, seasonal colds and flu.
Here’s a few measures to implement in your salon or barbershop right now.
Disinfect
Use Barbicide to disinfect stainless-steel tools and wipe down stations and chairs with anti-bacterial wipes after each client. Treat lobby areas, bathrooms and cashier stations in the same fashion. Be sure to clean tools like shears, blades, clippers, trimmers and brushes.
Dispose
Wear and dispose of gloves after each client. Never re-use disposable materials, and utilize new and fresh supplies when possible i.e. towels, capes, etc.
Wash Your Hands
Be sure to protect yourself by repeatably washing your hands throughout the day and in between clients. Remember to wash with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If you touch your face, wash again!
Reassure Your Clients
Encourage all clients to practice similar safety measures and reassure them that you are taking the proper steps to keep your salon safe and clean.
Stay Informed
Keep yourself informed and up-to-date by tuning in to the WHO and CDC websites. Be sure to follow local government orders as well.
Check out the WHO for more information, and visit the CDC’s website for additional Cleaning and Disinfection Recommendations.
