The haircare brand recently announced that marketing executive Charlene Zappa has been appointed to be their new Chief Marketing Officer. In her new role as CMO, Zappa will oversee all marketing initiatives, focusing on deepening consumer connections and fueling the brand’s next chapter of innovation and growth.
Zappa comes to Not Your Mother’s with an impressive track record of driving growth, innovation, and cultural impact across some of the world’s most iconic brands. She honed her skills leading billion-dollar brands such as Gillette Venus and Pantene, revitalizing underdog brands like Clariol Herbal Essences and Clairol Nice ‘n Easy, and overseeing legacy brands, including the 375-year-old Fiskars, where she redefined market relevance and consumer engagement. A champion of brand-building, Zapp has become known for her ability to uncover a brand’s soul, crafting compelling narratives that resonate with both consumers and retailers.
Throughout her career, Zappa has been recognized globally for her strategic marketing acumen. She has spearheaded award-winning campaigns and groundbreaking product launches, earning top industry accolades including 2022 Cannes and Clio Awards, 2021 Top 20 TikTok Culture Driver, and Nielsen Breakthrough, and IRI Pacesetter Top 20 Non-Food Launches in 2019, 2017, and 2015. Additionally, she has successfully led P&L growth across diverse markets, including the U.S., Europe, Latin America, China, and Asia Pacific.
