In recent years, there has been a huge rise in celebrity beauty brands. With so many people entering the space, it can be hard to know whose lines contain products that actually work. When I saw singer/actress Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty, I pondered the same thought. So, when the line finally launched in early September, I knew I had to try it.
I added several Rare Beauty makeup products to my routine, and here’s what happened.
Always An Optimist Illuminating Primer
Primer is an essential product that everyone needs in their makeup bag. When applying Rare Beauty’s Always An Optimist Illuminating Primer, I couldn’t help but notice how pretty the product looked and how creamy it felt on my skin. It’s recommended that you use 1-2 pumps —I used one— to fully cover your face. And after about four hours of wear, the primer left me with a dewy finish, and it really locked in my foundation. Overall, the product held up pretty well and left my makeup feeling super secure.
Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in “Bliss“
After applying my foundation, I dabbed Rare’s Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in shade Bliss on my cheeks. I’d never used a liquid blush before, so I was very surprised with how pigmented, blend-able and buildable the product is. Using just a beauty blender and my fingers, I easily blended the product out to create a soft color. After wearing the blush for several hours, the pigment had faded a bit, but reapplying the product was very easily done!
Positive Light Liquid Luminizer in “Mesmerize”
Next, I moved onto Rare Beauty’s Positive Light Liquid Luminizer. Using the applicator to add product to my cheekbones, nose and upper lip was very easy, and blending the product out with a brush worked perfectly. The luminizer (in shade Mesmerize) is very bright and provided a beautiful glow. Not to mention, it’s super buildable, so adding more was definitely an option. The glow was still shining and prominent even after sitting on my face throughout the day.
Blot & Glow Touch-Up Kit
Rare Beauty’s Blot & Glow Touch-Up Kit is definitely the product I was most excited about. As someone who struggles with oily skin, having a compact with powder and blotting papers is a lifesaver. For this routine, I used the blotting paper on my chin and the middle of my forehead to take away any excess oil that had creeped through my foundation. I then used the powder puff to set my undereyes, t-zone and smile lines.
The kit definitely gave my glam the extra security it needed. It softened my creases and kept excess oil at bay, even hours later. I will definitely be keeping this in my purse for any needed touch-ups!
With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm in “Thankful“
The last step in my Rare routine was the With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm in shade Thankful. My first thought was about how moisturizing and smooth the product felt. The color is a nice fall nude and looked great with my rosy cheeks! After many hours of wear and no reapplication, the color was still prominent, and my lips were super hydrated.
Overall, I’m so glad that I gave Rare Beauty a try! I will definitely be incorporating the products into my regular makeup routine, and I highly recommend purchasing some items for yourself. Each product is great for a dewy look and made my makeup feel secure and on-point.
