Hairstylists Review Blake Lively’s Hair Care Line, Blake Brown

09/05/2024

Following the success of, and controversy around, “It Ends With Us,” which she both starred and produced, Blake Lively has been prominent in the media recently. But the film is not the only reason.

On August 4th, she launched her first-ever haircare line, Blake Brown Beauty. An eight-product debut consisting of differing types of shampoos, masks, leave-in and moose. This is the first company she’s founded that dives into the beauty industry, and with signature long and healthy-looking hair that she’s maintained since “Gossip Girl” and beyond, there were instantly some high expectations on the quality of Blake Brown.

The Tease sought out the opinions of top-tier hairstylists for their honest feelings toward the brand and whether or not it lives up to its hype. Read on.

Karen Miller, professional hairstylist to the stars including Tinashe and Quinta Brunson, weighed in on the line and gave props to the overall aesthetic it provides.

“I think the packaging is beautiful and really stands out. For some reason, it just looks like it has a nice fragrance.” The stylist also revealed her feelings about celebrity-owned beauty brands in general. “I find it hard these days to keep up! Some brands I’m like ‘oh that makes sense’ and some I’m just like ‘why?’ I think I gravitate to the ones who seem to really be in touch and have some sort of true passion behind it.”

4-time Emmy nominated hairstylist Darbie Wieczorek shared her thoughts on the line as well, and shouted out two products out of the eight that she would recommend:

“I had the chance to try the Fundamental Strengthening Shampoo and the Wild Nectar Nourishing Strengthening Mask. Both products left my long blonde hair and extensions feeling incredibly hydrated and manageable right from the moment I stepped out of the shower.”

Darbie, widely recognized for her work on “The Voice” continued to applaud the new brand for several other factors that instantly make it stand out in the industry in a positive way. “I appreciate that the line is vegan and cruelty-free, which aligns with my values. To top it off, the products are not only budget-friendly but also carry a luxurious scent that lingers beautifully in the hair. Overall, Blake Brown Beauty offers high-end quality at an accessible price point.”

We also asked Lexi McDonald, professional bridal hairstylist and owner of Modern Lux Beauty, and for her, the clear standout from the debut is the Rich Reset Pre-Shampoo Mask. “It’s amazing, especially if you have curly hair. The smell lasts long and smells amazing. I do shampoo twice, which I think helps get that extra clean feel.”

However, while she raved about the product’s smell, it’s not a knockout among her clientele. “Some of my clients said the smell was a little too strong. I personally loved it but I do know some people do not like smells in their product because they prefer a more natural product.”

The entire collection is currently sold out on the website, but select Target stores still have products available for purchase. Check their Instagram for updates on when the line will be restocked.
