Who would’ve thought that doctors and hairstylists have so much in common? Both are experts in precision, dedicated to making people feel and look their best. The biggest difference? One uses scalpels and the other shears.
Take it from Dr. Juliet Chung, an eye surgeon specializing in glaucoma, who is also the visionary co-founder of T3 and has the “utmost respect for stylists”.
Growing up in a Korean household, Chung was immersed in a culture that placed high value on skincare and beauty. Her mother wanted her to become a doctor, and so she did. Despite her medical success, Chung’s love for fashion, beauty, and hair was undeniable.
While Chung was advancing her medical career, she was also working on her passion project—T3. Her boyfriend, now husband, took her frustration with the hairdryers on the market seriously. In fact, he went so far as to build her a custom hairdryer model from scratch. Yes, you read that right—he literally made her a hairdryer! The epitome of if he wanted to, he would.
Together, they launched the Featherweight dryer, the very first T3 hairdryer, a revolutionary product at the time. The business took off and in their first year, T3 made $4 million in sales. Chung and her husband remain sole owners to this day, with no outside investors.
In this episode, Chung shares how T3 has always been about more than just performance—it’s about creating products that elevate the everyday haircare experience. From the start, her goal was to create tools that not only deliver real results but also look stunning while doing it.
“The quality and the technology that delivers real results based on what stylists and women tell me, that will always be our brand ethos, 20 years ago vs now”.
20 years later, T3 continues to push boundaries and innovate. Chung shares all the exciting details about their latest release, the Aire 360 Ceramic Air Styler.
So what’s next? Chung hints at something big on the horizon. Could it be a new focus on scalp care? Tune in to find out—T3 is just getting started!
