ICYMI (and how?!), Addison Rae is a full-blown pop star with an infectious single, the breathy “Diet Pepsi,” which immediately became the soundtrack to whatever’s left of summer ’24. For her first VMAs appearance, Rae and her team, including stylist Dara Allen, hairstylist Lucas Wilson, makeup artist, the legendary, Pat McGrath and nail artist Mei Kawajiri, referenced one of pop’s foremothers at her peak, 80’s Madonna.
This was especially evident with the choice of the stunning, custom Miss Claire Sullivan lingerie and tutu. Nothing wrong with playful peacocking!
Wilson explained, “The inspiration behind Addison’s look is showgirl mixed with Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin’ because it’s her first time at the VMAs so we wanted to lean into the girliness of that.” He added, “We wanted to make sure her hair was healthy and protected while still staying in place all night, and we were able to achieve that with amika’s highly effective products.”

Get the Look:
- Hair was prepped with amika Plus Size Perfect Body Hair Mousse and blow-dried.
- Once hair was dry, Blockade Heat Defense Hair Serum was applied. Then set it with a 1 inch curling iron on high heat.
- Brush out and add some Supernova Moisture and Shine Hair Cream and a little Glass Action Hydrating Hair Oil to soften the set and shape it into place.
- Lock it in with Fluxus Hairspray to hold the shape without having the hair feel stiff.
