Rachel Zegler looked like a real life princess at the premiere of Disney’s live-action “Snow White,” thanks to celebrity hairstylist and frequent collaborator Clayton Hawkins. (Editor’s note: Please peep Hawkins’ IG for the various hairstyles they’ve turned out on this press tour because they’re sensational.) Zegler plays the titular “Snow White,” alongside Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen in the long-awaited adaptation. For her red carpet appearance at LA’s iconic El Capitan Theatre, Hawkins created an updo that was equal parts retro and modern — snatched af.
This was, of course, exactly what Hawkins was aiming for, telling The Tease, “…I wanted to channel classic Hollywood with a 1960s twist.” Scroll for a breakdown on Rachel Zegler’s “Snow White” hairstyle from Hawkins himself including the creative use of a black hair donut.

Get the Look:
- “I started started by pulling her hair up into a high tight ponytail and secured with an elastic. Lately when doing any kind of snatched look, I like to use a paste as opposed to gel or hairspray. It gives me the strong hold and grip I need without making the hair too wet and separated.
- Once the hair was in a pony, I curled it into ringlets with a 1 inch iron.
- Now here’s where I got DIY with it! I grabbed a giant black hair donut and cut it up into small pieces. I then pinned them around the ponytail and swooped and shaped her hair over the “doughnut bits” lol.
- I then locked it all in with tons of extra hold hairspray and shine spray. The final result is a classic, gorgeous updo.”
Hawkins gave us a little inside information about the much-buzzed-about film, saying “… I saw the movie and it was phenomenal! When people see it they’re going to LOVE it!” We can’t wait.
