amika entered the new year with a brand new chief executive officer. The haircare brand recently promoted Chelsea Riggs, who was formerly the brand’s president, to the role of CEO.
In her new position, she will be responsible for leading the business globally. Riggs will also continue to build on the amika’s winning vision, which took the brand to new heights in 2023. This comes after the brand’s acquisition by Bansk Group in 2022. By giving focus to a “fewer, bigger, and better” strategy, she plans to continue to grow where amika has a stronghold with professional-grade, yet approachable products.
“[amika wasn’t] built overnight; we’ve been working on the same strategy for a few years now: our hero product strategy with narrow and deep distribution with our key partner, Sephora; and our professional network, which is extremely important to our current and future business,” said Riggs. “We’ve been in a position where we’re able to leverage everything that’s working about the brand.”
Riggs joined amika in 2010 and has built the brand’s distribution from the ground up by focusing on supporting the hairstylist community. Under her leadership, the brand has seen 10x revenue growth and refocused its positioning to be a friend to all hair, hairstylists, and the planet.
