CeraVe Expands into Haircare With New Derm-Approved Product Line

11/06/2024

If you’ve been a longtime fan of CeraVe’s high-quality yet affordable skincare products, we have some good news for you: the brand just launched its first-ever haircare range.

The new line consists of their Anti-Dandruff Shampoo and Conditioner breakthrough system, which includes an Hydrating Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, a Hydrating Anti-Dandruff Conditioner, and a 2-in-1 Hydrating Anti-Dandruff Shampoo & Conditioner. Also available are two non-medicated options for those without dandruff— a Gentle Hydrating Shampoo and a Gentle Hydrating Conditioner. All of the products are under $10 and are available exclusively at Walmart.

CeraVe’s new collection of haircare products aims to treat and eliminate dandruff without disrupting the scalp barrier, while also leaving hair feeling soft and healthy. To do so, the brand has focused on targeting the root cause of dandruff—ceramide deficiency—while still respecting the balance of the scalp barrier. That’s why all of the product formulations feature the brand’s signature blend of three skin-identical ceramides (EOP, NP, & AP), which are identical to those found in the skin and will help restore the scalp barrier. Working together with other ingredients such as hydrating hyaluronic acid and 1% pyrithione zinc, these shampoo and conditioners will help provide relief from flakes while leaving hair nourished.

A Dermatologist-Approved Haircare Line

Since its launch in 2005, CeraVe has remained committed to bringing products developed with dermatologist to the market—and this still rings true for its new haircare line. The brand not only collaborated with dermatologists on its haircare launch, but also leveraged L’Oréal’s haircare expertise with rigorous development and testing on over 450 diverse scalps across various ethnicities, genders, and ages to create its final formulas.

“As we looked ahead to the future of CeraVe, we felt that hair and scalp care were a natural progression for the brand,” says Senior Vice President & Global Head of Professional Sales and Marketing for CeraVe, Tom Allison. “Working hand-in-hand with our dermatologists, we were able to create anti-dandruff formulas with skin-identical ceramides that are not only effective for gently and effectively cleansing and treating dandruff without disrupting the scalp barrier, but also leaves hair feeling healthy and soft.”

CeraVe Global General Manager Melanie Vidal adds, “Dandruff is among the top 5 reasons people consult a dermatologist, and by combining in-depth research, L’Oréal’s hair expertise, and the knowledge of leading dermatologists, we’ve created inclusive and highly effective formulas that are gentle enough for everyone. We’re excited to be launching CeraVe’s first haircare range, offering healthy hair for all.”

“Having worked closely with the CeraVe haircare team from the very start, I have seen the exceptional efficacy and results this line delivers,” says Dr. Doris Day, board-certified dermatologist. “Our top priority was to thoughtfully create products that are both effective and gentle, ensuring they are suitable for everyone. I’m incredibly proud to recommend this range to my patients, knowing it meets their diverse needs with care and precision.”
