Silk pillowcases have changed my life. For years, people have been telling me to make the switch to a silk pillowcase, not just for the comfort of sleeping on the softest fabric you will ever feel but also for the hair and skin benefits. I’ve been sleeping on a silk pillowcase from Celestial Silk for one month and I wish I would’ve made the switch sooner.
Celestial Silk
Celestial Silk is a female-founded company that was started in 2014 by Danielle Jackson. Originally, Celestial Silk sold only pillowcases but they have now expanded to selling face masks, headbands, and scrunchies. Additionally, the company donates 10% of all profits to charity!
All of Celestial Silk’s pillowcases are made from 25 momme mulberry silk. 25 momme is woven thicker, making the silk more durable and luxurious feeling as compared to other weights of silk. Their silk pillowcases come in two styles, zipper and envelope. They come in numerous colors and prints and retail for $42.
For those that are looking for environmentally-friendly bedding, Celestial Silk is the choice for you! Mulberry silk is one of the most environmentally-friendly fabrics. It is made from feeding mulberry leaves to silkworms. The silk is also very easy to dye and can absorb impact dyes with ease. Additionally, silk can last upwards of 20 years if taken care of properly and even is biodegradable. Alongside lasting for a long time, silk is relatively easy to care for— just wash with cool water and hang to dry in order to keep the silk shiny and soft!
Goodbye Frizz
As someone who’s always had frizzy hair, my morning hair tends to be a mess to try and tame. I’ve tried so many different products to help keep my frizz under control. Since switching to a silk pillowcase, my hair has changed drastically. I no longer have wild, untamable hair. I still have small amounts of frizz in the morning, but nothing compared to what it used to be. I can also go longer in between washes as my hair stays less greasy when sleeping on a silk pillowcase.
Silky, Smooth Skin
Much like with my hair, I’ve always had skin problems. Since switching to a silk pillowcase I’ve noticed that my skin breaks out less. When I do get breakouts, they aren’t as bad as they used to be and my breakouts go away faster. My skin has also become brighter and softer. Silk pillowcases help your skin retain moisture whereas cotton pillowcases will absorb the moisture and products right off your face. Yet another reason to switch to a silk pillowcase is that they help prevent wrinkles and are naturally hypoallergenic!
Honestly, I wish I would’ve taken everyone’s advice sooner. Switching to a silk pillowcase has changed the way I sleep forever. My hair and skin have seen so many benefits. I will be sleeping on silk for the rest of my life!
