Celebrity Hairstylists Tell Us the Joico Products Behind Kate Winslet, Michelle Yeoh, and Kate Hudson’s 2025 Golden Globes Looks

01/06/2025

Joico partnered with some of the biggest industry hair pros to kick off the New Year and the 2025 award season. Both celebrity hairstylists Renato Campora, who worked on Michelle Yeoh and Kate Winslet’s hairstyles, and Marcus Francis, for Kate Hudson, used some of the hair brand’s most well-known products to create three different looks on all three celebrities for the 82nd Golden Globes Awards. Keep scrolling for their look breakdowns.

Michelle Yeoh

Michelle Yeoh is definitely under the spotlight after the release and success of Wicked, and her less-is-more updo was a perfect balance with her gorgeous dress.

Renato Campora’s goal was to achieve a shiny, healthy hair look and prep was a definite requirement to get there. Here’s how Campora achieved Yeoh’s sleek chignon.

Get the Look:

  1. Campora prepped the hair with Joico Moisture Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner
  2. With clean hair, he then applied Joico Power Whip to the roots for volume and Joico Dream Blowout to mids and ends to reduce blow-dry time and boost moisture.
  3. Using a round brush, Campora blow-dried Yeoh’s hair straight and then curled it with a 1.25-inch barrel curling iron and pinned it to cool.
  4. Her bangs were blown out and straightened for an effortless, joyful look. Once the hair cools, it is brushed back into a clean ponytail.
  5. The hair is styled into a beautiful chignon, perfectly shaped to her head. A few sprays of Joico Power Spray Fast-Drying Finishing Spray, and ready to go!

Kate Winslet

Nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor for both Lee and The Regime, Kate Winslet’s look was all about business during these Golden Globes. The acclaimed actress walked the carpet in an all-white Erdem suit and a low bun that complimented her décolleté.

Renato Campora said the low, undone bun was inspired by her effortless style, and was crafted to pair well with the sleek silhouette of her suit. The style, he explained, “highlights the hair’s natural radiance while exuding modern elegance.” Here’s how he achieved it:

Get the Look:

  1. Campora prepped the hair with Defy Damage Protective Shampoo and deep conditioned it with Joico Defy Damage KBOND20 Power Masque to strengthen, build bonds, and fortify color-treated strands. Once clean and nourished, the hair was ready for styling.
  2. He then created a sharp middle part and applied Joico Dream Blowout Thermal Protection Crème from mid-lengths to ends for protection and hydration. To enhance shine and manageability, he used Joico K-PAK Color Therapy Luster Lock Spray on the top section.
  3. Working in 2-inch sections, heround-brushed the hair smooth while blow-drying to create the perfect base. With a polished, sleek foundation in place, it was time to add waves—but not without protection!
  4. Before curling, Campora sprayed Joico Heat Hero Glossing Thermal Protector on each 2-inch horizontal section. He said that “the must-have product protects hair from heat, enhances shine, and even reduces the appearance of split ends.” He then used a 1.25-inch curling iron to add soft, textured waves throughout the hair.
  5. He then crafted a low, undone bun that complemented the sleek silhouette of her suit and highlighted the hair’s natural radiance, while exuding modern elegance.
  6. To lock in the look, he finished by spraying Joico Body Shake Texturizing Finisher all over. Not only does this product protect against humidity and pollution, but it also creates plush volume and airy, touchable texture. The result? Healthy, shiny hair with a joyful, carefree vibe that’s red-carpet ready!

Kate Hudson

Actress Kate Hudson stunned with a high bun and face-framing bangs that definitely highlighted her beautiful sapphire and diamond necklace and princess dress during the Golden Globe Awards.

Celebrity Hairstylist Marcus Francis said they wanted a hairstyle that felt regal and timeless. He went for a high twisted chignon softly framing her face with curtain bangs, subtly giving an homage to her mom, Goldie Hawn. Here’s how he achieved her princess look using Joico products:

Get the Look:

  1. On damp hair, Francis used Joico Defy Damage Protective Shield from roots to ends and combed it through.
  2. Making a cocktail of the Joico JoiWhip Mousse and Joico Dream Blowout, he applied both products from the roots to the ends.
  3. He made a center part and sectioned out the section for her curtain bangs using a small round brush, he then clipped the bangs aside with setting clips and blew dried the rest of the hair with a medium size round brush drying each section up for lift at the roots.
  4. He took out a very small section on each side to softly frame her face while pulling the rest of her hair up to a high ponytail, secured with a bungee elastic.
  5. Francis sprayed the ponytail section with Joico Body Shake Texturizing Finisher Spray to help twist and shape the chignon. Keeping the height , I twisted to form a figure 8 and secured with hair pins.
  6. To finish it off, he used the Joico Power Spray fast drying finishing spray to smooth the hair at the nape and any flyaways, and to set the curtain bangs.
