Celebrity Hairstylist Renato Campora On How He Crafted Selena Gomez’s Timeless Curled Bob for the 2025 Oscars

03/03/2025

Selena Gomez, whose song “Mi Camino” from Emilia Pérez was nominated at the 2025 Oscars in the Best Original Song category,” arrived at the award show in her most dazzling look yet.

The singer rocked a side-parted bob that perfectly complimented her show-stopping, form-fitting Ralph Lauren gown, which was made with  over 16,000 drops of glass perfectly.

Renato Campora, the hairstylist behind the classy bob, said he was “inspired by the silhouette of the dress and jewelry, channeling the timeless elegance of Hollywood glamour movie stars.“ Thankfully, Campora walked The Tease through the steps he took to achieve the beautiful look using Joico and Dyson products. Keep scrolling for all the details.

Get the Look:

  1. To prep Selena Gomez’s hair during award season, he said Joico’s Defy Damage Protective Shampoo and Conditioner are his go-to hair care products. “They leave her hair incredibly clean and moisturized,” he explained.
  2. Next, he said he loves giving Selena a three-minute all-over hair massage with Joico Defy Damage KBOND20 Power Masque for added bond-building and hydration.
  3. After Gomez’s hair was prepped and clean, he sectioned off a deep side part. On damp hair, he applied both Joico Joi Whip Firm Hold Design Foam and Joico Dream Blowout Thermal Protection Creme, then raked them through from roots to ends. He said, “the combination of the Joico products and Dyson hair tools is a powerful combination that allows for a quick, round-brush blowout.”
  4. Then, using the Dyson Supersonic™ r Professional Hair Dryer at high heat and high air flow settings, Campora dried Gomez’s hair. “My goal was to achieve full, lush, bouncy, shiny, and healthy-looking hair.”
  5. Next, in larger sections, he sprayed Joico Heat Hero Glossing Thermal Protector and flat ironed the hair with the Dyson Corrale™ styler straightener at medium heat settings to smooth out any remaining flyaways and add extra shine.
  6. He then created curl-like waves in 2-inch sections at the ends. Roll up and pin the ends and keep roots flat to the head to set.
  7. After about 15 minutes of cooling, he finished the look with an all-over mist of Joico Humidity Blocker + Protective Finishing Spray. Once the hair is ready, I brush it out and spray each section inward with Joico Power Spray Fast-Drying Finishing Spray for long-lasting brilliance, shine, and beauty.
