Celebrity Hairstylist MJ Snyder Shares How to Refresh Your Hair Routine This Fall Using Your Favorite UNITE Hair Products

10/01/2024

Just like we change our outfits for each season, there’s value in also updating our hair routine to meet the different needs for the months ahead. That’s why we tapped celebrity hairstylist MJ Snyder for her insights on how to properly revamp your hair care routine for the fall season, with some incredible products from UNITE Hair. Not only will these products keep your hair fresh and healthy this season, but they’ll also help address some major cold water hair concerns like dryness or frizz, too. Keep scrolling for her product recommendations and tips.

For Moisture

According to Snyder, including moisturizing products and oils into your haircare routine is a must in order to keep the hair healthy and protected from the elements. “As the temperature drops, you may experience more frizz and static in your hair,” she explains. Her solution? Use a waterless, dry conditioner spray like UNITE U:DRY Fresh ($33.00) that will instantly refresh and hydrate dull, dry hair. It’s formulated with argan oil to provide moisture, shine, repair, and UV and thermal protection, and macadamia nut oil to give the hair a soft, silky finish. “Dry conditioner, opposite of dry shampoo, is going to give your hair an instant boost of moisture and shine, plus it’s not going to weigh your hair down,” Snyder says. “I use this all the time. It smells amazing and I am obsessed with the fact that you can quickly apply it and walk out the door in two seconds without having to do a full wash.”

For Protection

In that same spirit, since your hair is lacking a lot of the extra moisture, you should always work on adding extra protection when applying heat to your hair. Snyder says that “since we tend to reach for our hot tools more in cooler months, hair can be left looking and feeling dry and brittle,” so she recommends using UNITE SILKY:SMOOTH Heat Activator ($31.00). “ [It’s] such a great heat protectant for all hair types, textures, and especially those in need of extra repair and smoothing,” she says. “It also protects your hair for multiple washes, and locks out frizz and static.”

For best use, you should apply this heat protectant onto damp, towel-dried hair, making sure to distribute it throughout the hair evenly. As this heat activator is infused with macadamia nuts oil, similar to the dry-conditioner, as well as vegetable fats and oil, it will help detangle and soften hair while providing extreme UV and thermal protection, and repelling frizz.

For Volume

To add volume to your hair when styling, Snyder says TEXTURIZA Spray ($40.00) is going to be your new best friend. “This dry, finishing spray is an amazing texturizing spray that also delivers instant volume, while keeping the hair workable and moveable,” she raves. The spray is also safe for extensions and color-treated hair, and has a scent that, although not overpowering, leaves the hair feeling clean and not unmanageable, plus it delivers a medium, workable hold. Always make sure to hold the can 8 to 10 inches away and spray until desired texture is achieved.

For Shine

Snyder says that during the colder months you need to add life back to your hair. ““As we’re exposed to more artificial heat indoors, hair can be left looking and feeling dry and brittle,” she explains. “To protect stands, I really like using argan oil, because it is lightweight and very easy to use. UNITE U Oil ($49.50) is not only going to lock in moisture and add luster and shine, but also protect the ends, and seal nutrients into the hair, without weighing it down or making it look greasy.”

To finish your routine and add shine to your already styled hair, or if you’re just looking to protect your strands after constant heat exposure, you should apply 1 to 3 drops of U Oil to damp or dry hair, evenly.
