Celebrity Hairstylist Bobby Eliot on How to Recreate Jenna Ortega’s ‘Taste’ Music Video Style

08/23/2024

Somehow actress Jenna Ortega managed to squeeze in a music video shoot somewhere between her monster “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” press tour appearances. The video in question, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Taste,” in which the two battle each other in an obvious homage to the mega-camp, mega-gory 1992 film “Death Becomes Her.”

Simply put, the video’s a must-see —especially because of Ortega’s (and Carpenter’s) hair. Celebrity hairstylist Bobby Eliot, was responsible for Ortega’s look. Elliot said, “We wanted the hair to feel like Death Becomes Her. Full glamour, and over the top!” The Hair Shop Volume Veil in jet black definitely helped to up the ante on the entire style.

  1. “I started off by blow drying Jenna’s hair with a round brush for full volume, focusing on lots of root lift.
  2. Next, I secured in The Hair Shop Volume Veil in color 1 with the clip in attachments.
  3. Using a marcel iron, I pinned and set the hair.
  4. After letting the hair cool and set, I used a brush to brush out the set and sculpt the hair.”
