Call it a Comeback — FEKKAI Revives its 90’S Cult-Classic Brilliant Glossing Styling Crème

All things 90s are back, including FEKKAI’s timeless original classic: The Original Brilliant Glossing Styling Crème. Originally launched in 1995, this styling crème became an instant sensation, offering the ultimate solution for achieving salon-quality results at home. Infused with the nourishing power of cold-pressed olive oil, this multi-use styling crème can be used on damp or dry hair, delivering unparalleled shine, frizz control, curl definition, moisturization, and touchable hold for all hair types.

“The Brilliant Glossing Crème was born from the need to create a product that delivered natural shine behind the scenes at fashion shows, inspired by my roots in Provence where olive oil was a trusted remedy,” said founder Frédéric Fekkai. In 2008, the formula was upgraded with advanced technology, further solidifying its status as a beloved staple. However, a reconfiguration to the formulation in 2018 led to a change in its legendary efficacy, leaving devoted fans yearning for the original formulation. And over the past decade, demand for the Brilliant Glossing Styling Crème, or “olive oil cream” as fans call it, has soared, with loyalists flocking to online marketplaces and forums like Reddit and eBay, in search of the original product, with resale values soaring.

Recognizing this demand, FEKKAI embarked on a “comeback project,” reuniting with the original chemist, Ronald Uy, who meticulously recreated the iconic 90’s formula. Dipping into the archives, he found the 2008 formula and began batching based on this recipe maintaining 99% of it’s original formulation — the 1% difference is attributed to the removal of ingredients that are now banned which caused a transition of the creme color from yellow to white.

To ensure the revamped version meets the highest standards, the brand engaged over 300 loyal fans who had long advocated for its return, gathering invaluable feedback to refine and perfect the formula.
