Brock Goldberg’s Rise from Intern to CMO at Ergo Styling Tools

01/28/2025

The beauty industry is filled with stories of unexpected journeys, where opportunities arise in the most surprising ways. Brock Goldberg’s path to CMO of Ergo Styling Tools is a perfect example of how embracing those moments can lead to incredible success.

At 25, he was working at Nordstrom with no clear plan—just going with the flow. But life had other ideas, and a chance opportunity sparked his passion for hairstyling, launching him into a career he never saw coming.

It was Robert Reed, a key mentor, who gave Goldberg his big break and showed him the power of seeing potential in others, a trait he credits as defining a strong leader.

“To this day, I’m like what did this guy even see in me… but Robert has this ability to see things in people that they don’t see in themselves, and he was able to pass that on to me.”

This connection with Robert landed Goldberg an internship in the shipping department of Ergo Styling Tools. From there, he worked his way up, while attending cosmetology school and working in salons, and eventually became CMO at Ergo Styling Tools, all while learning the ins and outs of the beauty world.

After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Goldberg found it increasingly difficult to work behind the chair. He made the tough decision to step away from hairstyling and focus on the business side of things.

Goldberg’s diagnosis doesn’t hold him back; instead, it fuels his drive to support others in the industry. He emphasizes the importance of staying active, eating well, and practicing mindfulness to maintain balance and health in the demanding beauty world.

As CMO, Goldberg is all about pushing boundaries—not just with products, but with education. He’s focused on making sure stylists are armed with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed.

Goldberg is also creating programs like ‘The Art of the Blow-Dry,’ which teach stylists techniques to protect their bodies while improving their craft. He believes these programs will help them sustain their careers and avoid common physical challenges in the long run.
