With “One of Them Days,” topping the US box office, SZA’s officially in her movie star era. And, at a recent screening for the film, she showed us she’s also partially in her pink hair era thanks to celebrity hairstylist and colorist Devante Turnbull. Turnbull created a two-tone look with a baby-bubblegum pink money piece and a cherry red all over that’s bold but soft. Impossibly good. Perfect for spring 2025.
The Tease connected with Turnbull to understand how the hair came together and he graciously shared all of the details, including the exact Good Dye Young shades he used. Scroll for more.

- “As always, before starting any chemical service, I used the K18 molecular repair hair mist. This mist improves the hair’s resilience, helping to prevent damage both during and after the process. (Editor’s Note: Turnbull is a K18 ambassador)
- After letting it sit for 4 minutes, I lifted the money pieces using Schwarzkopf BlondMe with 20V and foils. I then lifted the money pieces a second time with 7V, while lifting the rest of the hair with 20V.
- I shampooed the hair using K18 DAMAGE SHIELD pH protective shampoo. With an optimized pH of 4.5–5.5, this shampoo helps prevent excess cuticle swelling during washing, reducing the risk of damage.
- Next, I applied the color: Good Dye Young “PINK PUFF” for the money pieces and “ALL IN THIS TOGETHER” for the rest of the hair.
- After rinsing out the color, I applied the K18 molecular repair hair mask and let it sit for 4 minutes.
- I allowed the hair to air dry slightly, followed up with a diffuser, and added a few curls with a hot tool. To finish, I used the K18 molecular hair oil to tame frizz and flyaways.”
