Redefining Clean Beauty with REVERIE and Garrett Markenson

We sat down with Garrett Markenson, co-founder of REVERIE, on Volume Up by The Tease to talk about his career journey and how it ultimately led him and his wife, Hillary Markenson, to create the brand.

Markenson never imagined a career in hair, often finding salons uncomfortable and “almost painful”. But as a fine arts student studying abroad in Florence, an unforgettable visit to a beautifully designed salon changed everything, opening his eyes to hairstyling as a form of artistry (thank you, Johnny Luca!).

After returning to the U.S., he trained at a leading hairstyling school with inspiring mentors, where he fine-tuned his skills and began working in a salon. While he enjoyed the experience, he knew he could do more and set out to create his own space that served his clients and the community.

Markenson explains that creating his own product line felt like a natural extension of his work. He wanted the products he used on himself and the clients in his salon to reflect his lifestyle and values – thoughtful, clean, and intentional.
