Favorite Hair Trend of 2024
Considering that lived-in color is often one of the most requested hair coloring techniques at salons, it wasn’t surprising to see it take the top spot as the favorite hair trend of the year. The low-maintenance, natural-looking color is extremely versatile and suits so many different hair types and hair lengths, making it a popular choice for clients in the salon.
When it comes to other hair trends that won us over this year, both scalp treatments and cowboy copper are deserving of an honorable mention.
Least Favorite Hair Trend of 2024
While perms may have seen a resurgence in the last few years, not everyone has been able to get behind them. Permanent waves were crowned the least favorite hair trend of the year, with chunky highlights, calico hair, mullets, and wolf cuts also making an appearance on the list.
Most Requested Celebrity Hair Inspo
Maybe it’s her iconic buttery blonde color and bouncy, voluminous wavers or her signature fluffy curtain bangs, either way everyone seemed to be coveting Sabrina Carpenter’s look this year, making her the most requested celebrity hair inspo of 2024. Along with being named as Redken’s first Global Ambassador, the Short n’ Sweet popstar beautiful blonde color is now a Redken Salon Service—simply as for “The Sabrina Carpenter Blonde” at your local Redken salon.
Favorite Hair Product
The hold that K18 has on the hair pros community is still going strong because the K18 Molecular Repair Hair Mask was selected as the favorite hair product of the year—and it’s easy to see why. Its award-winning leave-in formula is able to reverse hair damage caused by heat, bleach and color, and chemical services in just four minutes, thanks to the brand’s K18PEPTIDE™.
Prices Increases Became the Norm
Amid all of the inflation and the media monthly rent for hair professionals being $1,100, 52.9% of business owners raised their prices about 1-5% in 2024, according to GlossGenius.
Amongst hair pros, these were the top three reasons for increased prices:
- New location or upgraded service
- Increased demand of services
- Increased take-home pay
