All the stars showed up in a big way for last night’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” premiere in Hollywood. Thankfully, so did their hair teams!
The sequel to the smash hit “Black Panther” is hotly anticipated and deals with the loss of King T’Challa, played by actor Chadwick Boseman who died of colon cancer. By all accounts the new film honors the first, and Boseman, plus it further enriches and expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the addition of characters based in Mexican and Latin American mythology.
Below our favorite hairstyles from the cast and other celebs who walked the purple carpet!
Lupita Nyong’o
Hairstylist and brand founder Vernon Francois did not come to play with this insanely intricate hairstyle for star Lupita Nyong’o. Please scroll to see the back. Long live locs!
Michaela Coel
New to the MCU, Michael Coel was fully other worldly thanks to hairstylist Coree Moreno. The platinum buzz cut is just beyond. And we’ll never get sick of a bleached brow..
Angela Bassett
Queen shit from Angela Bassett. What’s new?! Hair by Randy Stodghill. Just wow.
Letitia Wright
A shorn look for “Princess Shuri” aka Letitia Wright. This close crop by Nikki Wright was anything but understated. And the fashion by Alexander McQueen fully referenced Chadwick Boseman, her on-screen brother. Fierce!
Danai Gurira
There’s braids, and then there’s BRAIDS. This look for Danai Gurira by Larry Sims, obviously falls into the latter category. What a moment!
Rihanna
RiRi is BACK! (Yes, we know she didn’t go anywhere.) The multihyphenate is contributing to the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack — her first songs in a handful of years. Ri turned to the one and only Yusef for this piecey style featuring delicate cornrows. Glam by Priscilla Ono with Fenty Beauty of course.
Mabel Cadena
Mexican actress Mabel Cadena, another MCU newbie, arrived with a wet look care of hairstylist Mashal Afzalzada. Clever as she plays an Atlantean warrior in the film.
Daniel Kaluuya
Fresh cut for Daniel Kaluuya by barber Trell Jones. Skin faded on the sides, with some curl on top — the perfect guy’s cut for fall?
Marsai Martin
Although not in the movie, we love that Marsai made an appearance with this stunning updo by Alexander Armand. Copper continues to be the color of the moment!
Michael B. Jordan
The lineup on Michael B. Jordan is immaculate. Congrats to the tag team of Tasha Reiko Brown and Jove Edmond.
Quinta Brunson
Quinta stays slaying thanks to Alexander Armand! A high pony?! Yes please!
“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” hits theaters on November 11th in the US. Are you grabbing tickets?
