If you’re curious what else 2025 has in store for hair, color-wise, we’ve totally got you covered. The Tease enlisted the help of two industry pros—celebrity hairstylist Nicole Leal as well as luxury hairstylist and custom colorist Tyler Mascio—to share their predictions on what will be some of the biggest hair color trends of the year. Additionally, they are also sharing their expert-approved tips for how your clients can maintain their new color at home with UNITE Hair Products. Keep scrolling for their incredible trend insights.
Mocha Mousse
With Mocha Mousse being named as Patone’s 2025 Color of the Year, many hair colorists and their clients will be inspired this year to transform their strands with the rich brown hue. “Mocha Mousse is very earthy. Rich yet neutral in tone, and very moody,” says Mascio. “When asking for this, I always recommend coming in with 2-3 inspiration pictures. Mocha Mousse is beautiful, however, it’s not a one-size-fits-all shade.” He adds that during your consultation, stylists will need to come up with a game plan to determine which shade works best for their client’s skin tone.”
When it comes to maintaining a neutral-toned brunette color like this one, Mascio says that it’s important that clients have an at-home hair regimen that locks in shine. “Oftentimes, colors of this nature can appear matter or flat over time,” he says. “I would recommend UNITE U-LUXURY Shampoo ($46.00) and Conditioner ($51.50). Its formula contains organic Hawaiian white honey to hydrate and soften the hair, while crushed pearl powder adds nutrients to protect and add a healthy-looking shine.”
Tan Espresso
If your clients love the look of Mocha Mousse, but want a hair color that’s more on the lighter side, than Tan Espresso is definitely the color for them. For a shade like this, Leal says that stylists will need to “tone down [a client’s] highlights, but not get rid of them completely.” She adds, “An all-over toner or deepening the root can really enhance the dimension of this color. Think blended tones of brunette, and not one solid color.” To maintain this look at home, clients should use RE:UNITE Shampoo ($37.50), RE:UNITE Conditioner ($40.00), and RE:UNITE Treatment ($45.00) to maintain color and shine.
Soft Terracotta
If you’re a stylist with a client that’s thinking of transitioning from blonde or red to brunette, an in-between like this elegant, terracotta-inspired hue is a great choice. According to Leal, this hair color is described as, “more of a golden copper than a red copper.” To achieve this look, she recommends crafting a “lightened-up copper tone with golden highlights. As for the color maintenance? Leal suggests that stylists tell their clients to add UNITE 7SECONDS Shampoo ($36.00), 7SECONDS Conditioner ($38.50), and 7SECONDS Dentagler ($40.50) to their at-home routine to protect and maintain softness.”
Syrup Blonde
According to Leal, the key to achieving this dimension of blonde tone is depth and subtle contrast. “Think of a creamy shade of vanilla,”she says. “It’s all in the lowlight. Instead of focusing on the brightest shade of the blonde, you’re relying on the depth and tone of the lowlight to make the blonde pop.” However, Leal notes that stylists should make sure not to over brighten the blonde. And when it comes to maintenance for this color, stylists should advise their clients to preserve the health of the hair by using UNITE 7SECONDS Shampoo ($36.00), 7SECONDS Conditioner ($38.50), and BLONDA Oil ($53.00).
Gourmand Colors
For clients that love being blonde, but hate the maintenance, you can go wrong with a beautiful gourmand color that will add richness and warmth to the hair. “This is ideal for those clients who want to see more of their natural color peek through,” says Leal, who recommends that clients get a touch up every 4-5 months. “Gourmand tones can be described as super rich, blended color. Think of creating a color that is going to reflect light.” To maintain this color at home, clients should use UNITE BOOSTA Shampoo ($36.00) and BOOSTA Conditioner ($38.50) to add bounce to the hair and fullness, along with BOOSTA Volumizing Spray ($35.50) to support root lift.
