Interview with Jennifer Yen
Starting her career as TV villainess on the hit TV show ‘Power Rangers,’ Jennifer Yen faced troubled skin after wearing heavy makeup for 15-hour days on set, under bright lights, performing action scenes. Almost ten years later, after giving birth to her daughter, Jennifer once again developed skin issues ranging from eczema and rosacea to adult acne.
During this time, Jennifer’s mother recommended she follow the 2,000-year-old practice she once followed rooted in Chinese Medicine referred to as “Sitting the Month,” in English — In which a new mother sits out for the month after childbirth to rest and heal her body by integrating Superfoods into her daily life. Not only did this energize Jennifer, but it also brought vitality and radiance back into her skin!
Inspired by her Asian heritage and her personal journey with skin and hair challenges, Jennifer has built a reputation for creating products that combine ancient traditions with modern innovations. Her entrepreneurial journey began with Purlisse, a skincare line that has become a trusted staple for its gentle, effective solutions. She followed this success with Yensa, a makeup brand infused with superfoods, designed to bridge the gap between skincare and cosmetics. Now, with Jooy, Jennifer is turning her attention to scalp health, offering innovative products with the goal of bridging the gap between skincare and haircare. Jooy’s science-backed formulas reflect Jennifer’s commitment to addressing often-overlooked areas of beauty care.
